Requirements for homeschooling in the state of Georgia
- Sumbit an annual Letter of Intent to Utilize a Home Study Program.
You can do this by completing the form at the Georgia DOE website. This must be submitted by September 1 or within 30 days after a program is established.
- The school year must include the equivalent of 180 days of at least 4 1/2 hours of instruction per day.
Although we are no longer required to submit attendance reports, it is recommended that you keep a record of attendance.
- The instructor must write an annual progress assessment report in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science for each student, and these reports must be kept for at least three years.
- Standardized testing must be administered every 3 years beginning in third grade, and these records must also be kept in your school files.
